Fear God

Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded and it stood fast. – Psalm 33:8-9

Many times we may experience fear – everyone will experience fear at some time or another. It may be fear for our safety, it may be fear of terminal disease or fear of death. It may be fear of speaking in public or fear of rejection. For many people, fear controls their behavior, their choices, and their emotional well being. But none of these fears are healthy. They do not bring peace and comfort – in fact, just the opposite.

In the Bible in the book of Proverbs, we learn that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10). The beginning of wisdom is to fear the LORD. To fear God – the creator and maker of all things. Of course this makes total sense: He is the all-knowing, all powerful, eternal God. We fear Him in the sense that He is God, the supreme and highest authority. We begin our journey of belief when we know God and understand His purposes for mankind. The first step is to rightly realize that our fear of God should overshadow any other fear we may have or will ever have.

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death. Proverbs 14:27

But to our amazement we find that this all-knowing, all powerful, eternally existent, almighty, and glorious God has extended to mankind His love. This we must understand more.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18

At the age of 19 while studying engineering in college, I became aware of Jesus ... and my sin and my destiny without Him. My eyes were opened and I turned from a life of unbelief and rebellion against God to Jesus. I believe.
